The zone successfully concluded its first mixed pairs competition. The competition was generously sponsored by Seamus McGlinchey Motors and its success will ensure that it becomes a permanent fixture in future seasons. The excellent entry, pleasantly saw many new combinations with players who had never competed together, thoroughly enjoying the experience. Finals night featured Danny McStravock and Mary B Higgins, Trevor Turkington and Ann Barnes, Clarke Hill and Brigid Davidson, Gerard Walls and Brigid Bradley, Seamus Kyne and Evelyn Wright, Damian McElroy and Susan McElroy, Liam McHugh and Geraldine Johnston, Tommy Quinn and Olive Kyle. In the semi finals Clarke Hill and Brigid Davidson proved too strong for Damian and Susan McElroy while Trevor Turkington and Ann Barnes just squeezed ourt Danny McStravock and Mary B Higgins. The final was keenly contested and went to the last bowl. Hill played an excellent bowl to lie game and Turkington just failed in his attempt to claim the win. The competition was a great success and was thoroughly enjoyed by all who took part.
